‘Christmas firsts’ – festive food waste reduction campaign
In response to a festive period that was set to be different for many households, Zero Waste Scotland developed a campaign to help Scots prepare for Christmas Day and ultimately reduce their household food waste.
The campaign was underpinned by key messaging based on the new ‘Christmas firsts’ concept, which focussed on raising awareness of the amount of food waste generated at Christmas, how to plan ahead for festive food shopping, preparing meals for varying household sizes and alternative diets with waste free shopping lists, as well as storing food correctly and other food waste reduction methods.

B2B surplus food matchmaking
Zero Waste Scotland continues to offer support to businesses, by facilitating surplus food redistribution, in response to current supply chain challenges. The online matchmaking service, launched in September 2020, is aimed at rescuing food that would otherwise be wasted, by connecting suppliers with surplus produce and organisations that will benefit from it.
