Webinar: 'Best Before' and beyond!

Around 50 redistribution organisations, which have received grants offered by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP), participated in a webinar about the opportunities to redistribute surplus food beyond its ‘best before’ date. WRAP gave participants an overview of the redistribution labelling guidance, developed by WRAP, the Food Standards Agency and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). As a Courtauld 2025* signatory, ‘The Bread and Butter Thing’ charity described how their organisation applies the guidance.

The aim of this webinar was to encourage more organisations to redistribute more surplus food by adopting the guidance – increasing the impact of the WRAP grant fund.

* Courtauld 2025 is a public-private voluntary agreement among food business operators, trade associations and public authorities, to work along the entire food chain to reduce the environmental impact of food and drink in the United Kingdom, from farm to fork and beyond.

Online learning programme: feeding people not bins in the hospitality and food service sector

WRAP has developed a pilot online learning programme for the hospitality and food service sector in the United Kingdom, to Target, Measure and Act on food waste. The ‘Becoming a Champion’ programme is a comprehensive behaviour change approach to learning and measuring food waste across operating sites, in order to reduce wasted food.

The programme forms part of the Guardians of Grub campaign, which empowers the sector to track and reduce food waste to save money and the planet.
