In December 2020, United Against Waste Austria, a platform aiming to help companies in the Austrian food service sector to monitor and reduce their food waste, organised the ‘Food Waste Coaches' training programme for large-scale food companies. 21 professionals from healthcare facilities and company restaurants throughout Austria were trained to become experts and agents of change in food waste prevention.
Through a series of workshops, participants dealt with challenges and solutions regarding food waste reduction, ranging from communication strategies to data analysis.
The training programme is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology and the waste prevention funding of the Austrian Collection and Recycling Schemes for packaging (Abfallvermeidungsförderung der österreichischen Sammel- und Verwertungssysteme).
