Stop Wasting Food Movement contributes to the Vatican’s book on food losses and waste

date:  16/12/2020

In December 2020, the Vatican published the book ‘Reduction of Food Loss and Waste’, developed as a follow-up to the Food Waste Reduction Conference, held on 12 November 2019.

Among the 55 speakers of the conference were the founder of the Stop Wasting Food Movement Selina Juul, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations Dongyu Qu, former EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis, Directors from World Bank, Rockefeller Foundation and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, organizational leaders, international politicians, ministerial representatives from several countries, international scientists and scholars, priests and Catholic cardinals. Conference speakers contributed to the Vatican's 240-page long book on food losses and waste.

Selina Juul calls on the Vatican to engage governments around the world to initiate national food loss and waste prevention funds to provide ongoing financial support for the fight against food waste in the entire food value chain, from farm to fork.
