Stop Wasting Food Denmark

Danish organisation rewards H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark for work on food waste prevention

In order to mark the first International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark was awarded the ‘Straeberen Honorary Award’* for her work on raising awareness against food waste. More specifically, since 2015, H.R.H. Princess Marie of Denmark has been involved in over 30 national and international activities and projects against food waste, including co-writing the award winning cookbook against food waste ‘Food with respect’, with Stop Wasting Food Denmark founder Selina Juul. Present in the award ceremony were, among others, H.E. Minister for Food, Fisheries and Equal Opportunities and Minister for Nordic Cooperation of Denmark Mogens Jensen, and Selina Juul. The event received media coverage (such as articles on kongehuset.dk and mydailyspace.dk).

* About the 'Straeberen' Honorary Award:

The Award was founded by The Cooperating Merchants Association (DSK) in order to promote the fight against food losses and food waste. The 'Stræberen' Honorary Award is awarded to a person who has excelled in the fight against food waste. The first recipient of the Award was the founder of the Stop Wasting Food movement Selina Juul (in 2018) and the second was Area Director at Danish Agriculture & Food Council Klaus Jørgensen (in 2019).
