On the occasion of the first International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, the official launch of the 'Alliance for the Reduction of Food Waste' was announced in Greece.

Under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Alliance brings together key stakeholders, such as professional and sectoral associations, companies from the entire food supply chain, civil society organisations, the academic and research community.

Signatories (already 20) to this Voluntary Cooperation Agreement engage in a common endeavour and concerted action towards preventing and reducing food waste in Greece.
