New distinctive seal launched to enhance visibility of food chain operators carrying out actions against food waste

The Portuguese National Commission for Combatting Food Waste (Comissão Nacional de Combate ao Desperdício Alimentar-CNCDA), the entity responsible for developing the National Strategy and Action Plan to Combat Food Waste, associated the commemoration of the International Day of Awareness of Food Losse and Waste with several initiatives, including the launch of the distinctive seal 'Sustainable Production, Responsible Consumption'.

This seal, of voluntary use, is intended for all public and private entities that, within the framework of their activities, develop initiatives aimed at preventing, avoiding or measuring food waste - the 3 strategic objectives on which the National Strategy and Action Plan to Combat Food Waste are based. Some of the voluntary actions are inspired by the key recommendations for action in food waste prevention developed by the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste in December 2019.
