ERN-RND

In November 2019, the European Reference Networks for Rare Neurological Diseases (ERN-RND) and for Rare Neuromuscular Diseases (ERN EuroNMD) launched a new joint educational programme in collaboration with the European Academy of Neurology. The goal is to share knowledge on rare neurological, movement and neuromuscular disorders and fill the training gap in this area through a series of free webinars presented by renowned experts in the field.

The target audience includes clinical specialists, residents, trainees and other paramedical staff involved in patient care across Europe and worldwide. The webinars treat different aspects of the disease groups covered in our networks such as clinical features, genetics, disease diagnosis and management and possible therapeutic interventions. Topics relevant for adult and paediatric cases have equal share in our curriculum.

Furthermore, in order to increase the interaction with the participants and ensure the learning objectives are met, the webinars contain 2-4 live polls. The results of the polls are shown in real time and the speaker can directly act and adjust the way of presenting to the level of knowledge of the participants.

For those who cannot attend the webinar live or who wish to view it again, the webinars are being recorded and published along with the presentation slides on the ERN-RND website here.

An intensive communication campaign has been launched to announce these events in a wide range of communities, institutions, professional societies active in the field of rare diseases, including the European Academy of Neurology and the European Paediatric Neurological Society.

The webinars have been followed from 51 countries worldwide. The participants’ feedback has been very positive, noting the benefit of receiving clear and straightforward delivery of knowledge, clinical examples and practical hints. Moreover, in the post-webinar satisfaction survey the attendees pointed out the learning effectiveness of the patient videos presented and highlighted the overall value of the experts’ views on current state-of-the-art.
