We are delighted to invite you to the public event Let's Reduce Consumer Food Waste! Solutions from the European Consumer Food Waste Forum on 5 June 2024 in Brussels.

This event is organised by DG SANTE and the Joint Research Centre (JRC), and is specifically designed for policymakers at local, regional, and national levels, food businesses and other organisations, schools and educational establishments committed to tackling consumer food waste.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand how to apply behavioural science to tackle consumer food waste.
  • Learn how to reduce consumer food waste through effective local, regional and national policies.
  • Gain insights into how you can design, monitor, and evaluate your actions effectively.
  • Participate in dynamic discussions, present your work, and receive useful feedback from leading experts in food waste prevention on how to maximise the impacts of your actions.

Background information

The Joint Research Centre, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety set up the European Consumer Food Waste Forum as a network of international practitioners and researchers who identified a variety of evidence-based, practical solutions to reduce food waste at the consumer level, including household and food services. The result of their work was published as a Compendium of tools, best practices, and recommendations to help all key players engaging in actions to prevent food waste, as well as in informative leaflets in all EU languages with recommendations for policymakers, food businesses and schools.
