Lidl and ‘Love Food Hate Waste Scotland’ team up to tackle food waste
Zero Waste Scotland's Love Food Hate Waste campaign has teamed up with Lidl in a bid to tackle food waste. ‘Great Taste, No Waste’ includes a series of food waste-free shopping lists that will help Scots plan better, save money and fight the climate crisis. In addition to weekly shopping lists for a family of four for £40, the initiative also includes guidance on food storage and creative ways to use up leftovers.
Food waste reduction webinars for the hospitality and food services sectors
Zero Waste Scotland’s food waste reduction webinar series, in response to the coronavirus crisis, allowed the organisation to engage with the hospitality and food services sector to cut costs by cutting food waste, at a time when the industry was impacted by restrictions. The series provided businesses with tools, skills and resources to help cut food waste in their kitchen.

New online Food Redistribution Matchmaking service
Zero Waste Scotland’s Food Redistribution Matchmaking service was launched in response to reports of food going to waste in the supply chain as a result of coronavirus restrictions. The online matchmaking service is aimed at rescuing food that would otherwise be wasted, by connecting suppliers with surplus produce and organisations that will benefit from it. The service has helped to contact businesses with local redistribution networks, creating long-term relationships.
