Through the Stop Food Waste Programme, a series of social communications provided ‘top tips’ information on how the public can better plan the food they need to buy, store their food so it lasts longer, and be creative in making the most of their food so it’s not wasted.

The social communications also highlighted key online resources available from the Stop Food Waste website, to provide more information to help the public to reduce their food waste. Notably the A-Z of Foods shows how to keep food fresh for longer and the ‘all you need to know’ pocket guide how to prevent food waste.

A poll conducted on the Stop Food Waste’s Instagram asked ’Do you think that you are wasting more or less food amid the current crisis?’ and 89% of respondents said they were wasting less food. Going forward, consumer-focused awareness communications will be continued on the EPA’s Stop Food Waste’s social channels (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter).
