The 2022 Private Equity Activity Report from Invest Europe, published on 3^th of May 2023, reveals that fundraising in Europe experienced an exceptional year. Compared to the previous year, there was a remarkable 30% increase, reaching the highest level ever recorded. Here are the key highlights from the report:

• A total of 801 funds successfully raised EUR 170 billion throughout the year. This represents the second-highest number of funds raised since 2008 and the largest monetary amount ever recorded.

• Among the funds raised, EUR 23 billion was secured by 343 venture capital funds. Notably, 81 of these funds were first-time funds, indicating a growing interest in venture capital investments.

• European companies received EUR 130 billion in investments, marking the second-highest level since 2008. This demonstrates robust investor confidence and interest in the European market.

The report also highlights that a significant number of companies, totalling 5,435, received venture investments. This resulted in EUR 18 billion being invested in venture capital, which is almost 50% higher than the average of the past five years.
