Responsible policy advice in times of permanent crisis. What role for the PRO-RES framework?

Professor Nicole Grobert, the chair of the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors to the European Commission, is opening the final conference of the PRO-RES project. What challenges have science advisors encountered during COVID-19? Nicole Grobert will reflect on the importance of trust and multidisciplinarity in providing responsible policy advice in times of crisis.

The main objective of PRO-RES project is to encourage policy-makers and advisers to seek evidence to inform their decisions from research that has been conducted ethically, responsibly and with integrity. The conference will present the main project outcome, an ethical guidance framework for researchers, policy advisers and policy-makers, and discuss this in the broader context of the current crisis. In doing so, it will touch upon the challenges of providing advice for policy-makers during COVID-19 and the road ahead for evidence-based policy-making in an era of seemingly permanent crisis.
