COVID-19 represents the biggest health challenge in generations and society is looking at research & innovation to find solutions. Biopharma companies are undertaking a monumental campaign to combat, and hopefully eradicate the disease by developing tests, treatments and vaccines and producing them in global volumes at an unprecedented speed.

The world is waiting for a coronavirus vaccine – but can we depend on it, and when will it arrive? There are more than 100 candidates in the pipeline of which around 10 are in clinical trials as of June 2020. The Milken Institute published a tracker of the leading candidates which allows browsing COVID-19 vaccines by technology and their development status.  

Sharing scientific data is at the heart of fighting the new coronavirus. Elsevier and Springer Nature are taking their part in the pandemic response by making freely available health and medical research publications and data on the novel coronavirus.
