Internationalisation to strengthen countries’ global science role

Attracting and nurturing the talent to drive innovation and get global attention takes a long-term commitment to major reforms across the research and innovation landscape, say experts reporting on the Polish higher education and science system.

Global competition to attract and nurture talented scientists, engineers, digital innovators and entrepreneurs is fierce. The expert panel's findings underlined a number of priority areas where reforms are likely to yield the best results, and greater openness to ‘internationalisation’ in programmes, people and policies is chief among them.

The PSF report called for a broad-based internationalisation strategy that sets out clear ‘top-down’ direction and ‘bottom-up’ actions to overcome traditional hurdles, prejudices and entrenched systems holding back innovation and excellence on the global stage.
