Novelties in the Horizon Dashboard

date: 01/09/2020
The Horizon Dashboard is under constant development to respond to the evolving policy environment, to broaden and ease the access to our R&I programmes’ data and to improve user experience.
Many things happened in the Horizon Dashboard family during the first months of 2020.
The general public can now benefit from the enhancements added in the external Horizon Dashboard:
- A brand new Organisation profile
- Enhanced EIC Pilot Dashboards
- Enhanced Seal of Excellence Dashboard
Additionally, internal users will discover several new views in the internal Horizon Dashboard:
- Audit Dashboard
- Time-to-Grant (TTG) Dashboard
- Covid-19 Dashboard
- Gender Dashboard prototype
- Additional elements replacing the old “R reports” from eCORDA and WebCORDA platforms
New Organisation profile to monitor the performance of any organisation in H2020 and FP7
More than 50.000 organisations have benefited so far from EU funding through Horizon 2020 and FP7. This new tool will allow you to find out more about how they are performing in the EU funded R&I programmes. It replies to a longstanding request from the Member States to have such a tool at their disposal. The tool will further evolve over time.
Purpose?
Find out more about the performance of any organisation participating in FP7 and/or H2020: its projects, the amount of EU funds received, the project partners.

Enhanced EIC Pilot dashboards fitting better the programme's reality
Until now, the EIC reporting in the dashboard was covering the EIC Pilot timeframe only, starting as of its establishment back in 2018. Following a request from the EIC taskforce, there has been an enhancement of the reporting on the EIC Pilot to include all the related topics. Additionally, the topics have been classified per EIC scheme: Accelerator, Pathfinder, Fast-Track-to-Innovation and EIC Horizon Prizes; and there is a new data export functionality.
Purpose?
Monitoring and analysis of the EIC pilot implementation

Seal of Excellence dashboard now containing data about the MSCA-IF proposals awarded with the seal and the EIC COVID-19 Response Seals of Excellence awards
Project proposals receiving the Seal of Excellence (SoE) label are those that expert evaluators evaluated positively for receiving EU funding but did not get it due to budget limitations. The SoE label should help applicants to find alternative funding while national or regional funding bodies can take advantage of the EU evaluation process to fund excellent innovative projects.
Find out more about those hundreds of excellent proposals that couldn’t be funded, out of which 139 are targeting solutions to help recover from the COVID-19 crisis.
Purpose?
Analyzing, identifying excellent proposals that could not get EU funding but are worth being funded by other funding bodies such as national and regional funding bodies

This interactive dashboard is replacing the old fashioned TTG report currently still available in WebCORDA.

COVID-19 Portfolio Analysis (prototype)
The COVID-19 portfolio analysis was set up in the first week of the lockdown and it is a collaboration between different directorates in DG RTD as well as Executive Agencies and other DGs from the R&I family. The portfolio consists of FP7 and H2020 projects identified in different levels of response that can contribute to fight the health emergency and to strengthen the resilience of our socio-economic systems.

With its strategy on gender equality in Horizon 2020, the EU is contributing to promote gender equality in Research and Innovation. A new dashboard prototype has been developed and will be proposed as a tool to accompany the work of the gender matrix.
Purpose?
Monitor the following objectives of the gender equality strategy in Horizon 2020 and FP7:
- Fostering gender balance in research teams
-
Ensuring gender balance in decision-making.
Content?
The prototype is still being tested by the Gender Matrix and it contains data referring to the gender balance in research teams. Future developments will address the other Gender equality objectives (e.g. integration of the gender dimension in research content).

Replacement of the R reports by dashboard elements
To enhance user-friendliness and ease the access to data, the data team is progressively replacing the old static reports by more modern dashboard views or elements.
In this context, the predefined “R reports” from eCORDA and WebCORDA have been introduced in Horizon Dashboard via enhanced charts, alternative measures and dimensions or additional filters. The enhanced dashboards are available through the eCORDA stream to the dedicated external users and via the internal dashboards for the internal users.
