Understanding of the benefits of EU membership through simulation

During the last week of October, Europe House welcomed students from St. Martin’s College Sixth Form and St Clare College Secondary School to participate in a series of role-play simulations and games, aimed at providing a better understanding of the benefits that citizens of Malta enjoy as an outcome of EU membership. The initiative was co-organised by the European Commission Representation and the European Parliament Liaison Office in Malta.

Students were divided into two groups, each representing two families living in different timezones, one in 2004 and one in 2024.

Under the guidance of Dr Andreas Kotelis, Lecturer at the Institute for European Studies, the role-play allowed students to discuss and solve various challenges according to their timezones.  Lively discussions ensued amongst the students, giving them a better understanding of the benefits of EU membership in Malta.
