The event was officially opened by the Hon. Alison Zerafa Civelli, Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government within the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, who welcomed participants and voiced her support for the project’s aim to bring together the European and local government structures in an unprecedented alliance.
 
Alessandro Giordani, Head of Unit COMM C4 – Networks in the Member States, offered attendees insight into the BELC network with an informative presentation on its organisation and the many benefits it offers to members.
 
Participants also had a valuable opportunity to meet representatives of the European Documentation Centre and EUROPE DIRECT Centres based in Malta and Gozo, and learn more about their key role in strengthening this dynamic network.
