The students had a chance to learn more about translation from Paul Zahra, a translator in the Maltese department and the marker of the Maltese-language texts in the competition, and David Schembri, the Language Officer at Europe House. Zahra, who is also a literary translator, gave each student a copy of his translation of Balzac’s La Maison du chat-qui-pelote, Id-Dar tal-Qattus bir-rakketta f’Idu.
And because they received a special mention, it’s only fitting we mention them again: Sage Agius and Julia Barbara from G.F. Abela Junior College; David Attard and Hale Bonello from Saint Aloysius College Sixth Form; Danielle Bonnici and Lee Gatt from De La Salle Sixth Form; Alycia Laffoucriere from Saint Edward’s College, and Shaun Portelli from Sir M.A. Refalo Sixth Form. Giulia Cilia, from G.F. Abela Junior College, won the contest.
