EU unemployment t at lowest level since 2000
Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, announced on 30 September that in August 2019 the EU28 unemployment rate was 6.2%, down from 6.3% in July 2019 and from 6.7% in August 2018. This is the lowest rate recorded in the EU28 since the start of the EU monthly unemployment series in January 2000. The euro area (EA19) seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in August 2019was 7.4%, down from 7.5% in July 2019 and from 8.0% in August 2018. This is the lowest rate recorded in the euro area since May 2008.
