Irish home energy consumption 7th highest in the EU

New Eurostat figures show that Irish households have the 7th highest consumption of electricity despite having the 4th highest electricity prices in the EU. Ireland also had the 4th highest dependence on energy imports in the EU with 88.7% of energy consumed in 2015 being imported. And only 9.2% of our energy came from renewable sources, 6th lowest in the EU. Eurostat's Energy, Transport and Environment report also shows that Ireland's greenhouse gas emissions in 2015 were 9.2% higher than in 1990. The publication also contains information on road traffic and waste.
