UK strong environmental performer but air quality still of concern
Air quality in the UK – and nitrogen dioxide emissions in particular – continue to cause concern. This is one of the findings in the Commission's new Environmental Implementation Review (EIR) launched on 6 February. The review looks into how member states implement EU environmental policy in order to give early warning on persistent problems in areas like air and water quality, waste management, circular economy, protecting nature and biodiversity. The review praised the UK for being at the forefront in other areas of environmental policy – like green public procurement.
