The Festival of the New European Bauhaus
Thanks to our community's passion, commitment and all the different perspectives brought to the debates, the first-ever Festival of the New European Bauhaus was a great success!
The Festival took place from 9 to 12 June in Brussels, over 20 other countries across Europe, and online. Through its physical and online activities, the event reached nearly 200 000 people. It was a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in beauty, sustainability, and inclusion to meet, exchange, make plans for the future, and celebrate.

Winners of the 2022 New European Bauhaus Prizes
Commissioners Gabriel and Ferreira announced this year's winners in a vibrant ceremony on 11 June during the New European Bauhaus Festival. The Prizes celebrate new, inspiring examples of the transformations that we aim to bring about in our daily lives, living spaces and experiences.
Out of over 1 100 projects, four prizes were awarded in each of four categories, every time including awards for existing completed projects and ‘Rising Stars’ prizes for ideas by young talents aged 30 or less.
In the ‘Reconnecting with nature’ category, winners are from Spain, France, Germany, and Poland. Prizes for ‘Regaining a sense of belonging’ went to projects from Austria, Lithuania, Poland and Czechia. Best projects under ‘Prioritising the places and people that need it the most’ were selected from Belgium, Greece, Italy, and Hungary. In the fourth category, ‘Shaping a circular industrial ecosystem and supporting life-cycle thinking’, prizes went to Portugal, Romania, Finland, and Italy. Finally, two prizes went to winners of a public vote: one to Cyprus and the other one to Spain.
Highlights from the ceremony can be seen here. Watch the whole event and discover the 18 winners and all the finalists' projects on the prizes platform.

Regulatory analysis: share your views by 30 June
Have regulations enabled or hindered you from building or renovating in a more sustainable, beautiful and inclusive way? Can the building sector be better aligned with the New European Bauhaus values?
We want to hear from you!
We are currently mapping regulatory barriers and good practices on local, regional, national and European levels. The aim of this is to revise and reshape existing regulations governing the built and construction sector in line with the objectives of the New European Bauhaus and the European Green Deal.
If you have questions, we will be happy to answer them and help you fill out the survey in a meeting on 29 June from 12:30 to 13:30 CET on webex.
Your contribution will be highly appreciated.

NEB Lab labelling strategy: call for experts
Do you have qualifications and experience in at least one of the NEB dimensions or the following areas with a focus on buildings - environment, economy, functionality, emerging technologies, sense of place, beauty, governance and diversity?
Join us as an independent expert!
In the context of the NEB Lab project on a labelling strategy, we will collect and analyse the existing standards and codes of practice and develop an assessment framework that will allow interested parties designing, implementing or assessing transformation projects to align with the New European Bauhaus dimensions.
Through this call, we are looking for experts to get involved in this work. The expected commitment would roughly and tentatively correspond to 100 days of work (mostly remote) across a two-year period.
If this opportunity sounds interesting to you or someone you know, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Blueprints for financing energy efficiency in housing and sustainable living spaces
The Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) launched two new model financial instruments combining grants and loans in support of the objectives of the REPowerEU and New European Bauhaus initiatives.
- Model for projects associated with the New European Bauhaus
- Model for energy efficiency investments under REPower EU
These models give authorities and financial intermediaries options on how to combine EU grants together with loans on favourable terms, to finance investments in support of energy efficiency and New European Bauhaus territorial development investments.
The financial instruments were developed jointly under fi-compass - a platform for advisory services on financial instruments provided by the Commission in partnership with the EIB.
