Concello de Naron, Spain

This initiative aims to stamp out traffic and pollution in school zones in the north-western Spanish city of Concello de Narón and has made it possible for students to safely walk, bike or use their scooters to go to class.

The main strength of the project and guarantee of its sustainability is a community-based network encompassing several generations, as well as teachers, small businesses, local authorities and other residents.

The endeavour has also created healthy habits among the city’s youngest residents. It offers parents the reassurance that their children are safe and has even included early-morning entertainers for the youngsters.
