The European Language Data Space (LDS) will soon launch the LDS Business Development Helpdesk, a central support hub to assist data providers and consumers in navigating and capitalising on the emerging opportunities related to language data, AI and multilingual digital services.

12 months LDS Country Workshops

Since April 2024, nine LDS Country workshops have been held across Europe in Finland, Sweden, Luxembourg, Hungary, Ireland, Slovakia, Czechia, Belgium with The Netherlands and Denmark, with the mission of disseminating information on the LDS and establishing synergies of collaboration and support from the local stakeholders.

The European Language Data Space (LDS) is designed to facilitate a seamless, cross-platform and secure data exchange among the LDS marketplace members. An intuitive search function facilitates the search of data products, tools and/or services made available by other participants in the LDS marketplace.

 
Data Spaces Symposium 2025: Shaping the Future of Data Sharing

The Data Spaces Symposium 2025, held in Warsaw on 11 and 12 March, brought together industry leaders, policymakers and innovators from all over Europe and beyond to explore the evolving landscape of data spaces. Organised by the Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) and the Data Spaces Business Alliance, the event highlighted the transformative power of data sharing and its role in unlocking new business opportunities and driving innovation across multiple sectors.

 
ALT-EDIC Inaugural Meeting

The inaugural event for the launch of the Alliance for Language Technologies EDIC (ALT-EDIC), established as a European organisation in February 2024, will take place from 18 to 20 March 2025.

 
How does the Language Data Space work?

The European Language Data Space (LDS) is designed as a distributed and decentralised ecosystem, consisting of central as well as local components. Each participant, be it a language data provider or consumer, needs to set up the LDS connector software on their own data infrastructure.

 
How to get started

To apply for a participation in the LDS, the legal representative (or a delegated person) of an interested organisation fills in the application form and provides the necessary information to verify that the the eligibility criteria and other operational requirements are met.

 
Beta release of the European Language Data Space software

The European Language Data Space (LDS) aims at building a trustworthy and effective data market for the exchange of language resources in the public and – even more importantly – in the private sector, enabling the participants to share, sell or buy language data products through a single platform.

 
LDS at the DSS 2025

The 2025 edition of the Data Spaces Symposium (DSS) will take place on 11 and 12 March in Warsaw, Poland, with the ambitious title "Share data. Unlock value. Boost impact." The Symposium counts among the world’s leading events on data spaces and showcases the pivotal work done by the Data Spaces Support Centre in providing a blueprint for common European data spaces, acting as a cornerstone of the European Data Strategy.

Overview of the LDS beta functionalities

The LDS infrastructure ensures that the core functionalities of the European Language Data Space are accessible in a simple and intuitive way. Here, we provide a first glimpse of the planned features and operations, which are designed to enable secure transactions that comply with EU laws and regulations.

 
European Language Data Space Software Release

The first European Language Data Space (LDS) software prototype is currently being tested. It consists of the LDS Connector, including Identity and Access Management (IAM) and some example user roles, as well as basic support for several workflows. The official beta release is scheduled for 7 February 2025.

Interview with Khalid Choukri

Khalid Choukri is the CEO and CTO of the Evaluations and Language resources Distribution Agency (ELDA) in Paris, France. In the European Language Data Space project (LDS), ELDA leads the activities related to the governance of the LDS infrastructure as well as the organisation of the LDS events and the operation of the technical and legal helpdesk.

 
LDS Consortium workshop

On 14 and 15 November 2024, the LDS Consortium met in Berlin to discuss and finalise the Governance scheme of the Language Data Space (LDS) and to start testing its technical architecture.

 
Third meeeting of the LDS User Group

The third LDS User Group Meeting took place virtually on 6 November 2024, attended by more than 30 people from 27 different organisations and companies from all over Europe. The central topics of this meeting were the LDS governance as well as the LDS components and infrastructure.
