One of Sweden’s largest employers, The County Council is responsible for all publicly-financed healthcare and public transport in Stockholm County. The County Council is also responsible for other overall issues within the county, such as regional planning and cultural subsidies. 45 000 employees are engaged in this service where an inclusive workplace is key to provide the best services possible to the diverse population in the region. It is also key to stay attractive as an employer. In addition The County Council have identified diversity as a driver of growth for the region and are dedicated to share best practice and key success factors among as other employers. They invest not only time but also money to make this happen and came up with the proposal to jointly with DC Sweden and other signatories co-create a best practice guide.

18 signatories from a large variety of businesses, large companies as well as SMEs rapidly signed up to take part in the first workshop. The key areas Values, Communication, Targets, Leadership and Recruitment were identified and concrete actions and behaviors were discussed. Lots of energy and concrete learnings and actions was shared.
The County Council will get a summary to feed in to their strategy and planning onwards.

A digital guide will be shared with all signatories and other employers. This is a brilliant example where public sector and business work together to grow the region and contribute to a sustainable society.
