Portugal: Diversity Awards – 1st edition: 2017

The Diversity Award aims to distinguish organizational practices that enhance diversity and equal opportunities in the work place.

The award intends to evaluate practices in six categories:

  • Commitment of top management and other hierarchical levels;
  • Organizational culture;
  • Recruitment, selection and personnel management practices; 
  • Professional development and career advancement; 
  • Communication of the Charter and its principles;
  • Working conditions and accessibility. 

 
The evaluation criteria were: Impact of the practice; Innovation; Reach; Management and Sustainability.
 
The 1st edition of the Diversity Awards had 29 applications from 16 Charter signees, from various sectors and dimensions. The results of these applications were announced at the Portuguese Diversity Charter Gala, held on November 10th, 2017, at the Atlântica University facilities.


This event was attended by more than 30 organizations and 100 people. Both the Secretary of State for Citizenship, Equality and Inclusion and of Inclusion of People with Disabilities, reaffirmed the importance of promoting Diversity and Inclusion inside all organizations.


12 practices were recognized by the Jury, composed of 5 experts from different areas invited for this purpose: 4 with Awards and 8 with honorable mentions.


A brochure was published in order to share the winning practices, and it was delivered on the day of the ceremony and made available online at the Charter website.
