Clean-up and alignment of Version Control System users

As a preparation task for the migration into a new licensing model for DIGIT corporate Version Control System (VCS) solution, we will proceed with a reorganisation and deep clean-up of our users. The process will deeply impact the access to the codebase of the sites hosted in DIGIT Drupal Hosting service and to the related tools Drone, CI/CD, NextCloud and Graylog.

As a preparation task for the migration into a new licensing model for DIGIT corporate Version Control System solution, we will proceed with a reorganisation and deep clean-up of our users. The process will deeply impact the access to the codebase of the sites hosted in DIGIT Drupal Hosting service and to the related tools Drone, CI/CD, NextCloud and Graylog.

We ask for your cooperation to comply with the requirements for the user clean-up process by 15 October:

  • All users have to update their profile in GitHub and Gitlab with a proper name that allows to identify the person. Please avoid providing only nicknames.
  • All users have to ensure the email used in the EU Login service is properly registered and validated in their Github profile, as all invitations to projects will be automatically sent to the email associated to the EU Login account. In most cases, that email is the same as the one in the Jira account.
  • All project managers must report who are the developers working in their projects to the DIGIT Quality Assurance team by email (DIGIT-NEXTEUROPA-QA@ec.europa.eu). The report must contain the name of the repository and the EU Login username of the developer. In the case of projects hosted in dedicated clusters, the same information must be provided for deployers.

The planned timeline for the clean-up process is:

Phase 1 (15 September - 15 October): developers and project managers from all Drupal projects hosted in DIGIT need to comply with the requirements listed above.

Phase 2 (16 October - 15 November): DIGIT Quality Assurance team will:

  • remove current teams and users
  • register new users in the Quality Assurance website
  • delete all accounts and users that do not meet the requirements

Phase 3 (16 November - 30 November): DIGIT Quality Assurance team will monitor and proceed with the deletion and upload into AWS S3 of the repositories archived before 1 January 2020.
