Drupal 8 site deployments - deadline extended to 19 January

Following multiple requests from business owners, the deadline to perform Drupal 8 site deployments in the Drupal hosting pipeline is extended to 19 January 2022. As of 20 January Drupal 8 sites can stay live for a few months but no new deployments will be possible. Therefore, Drupal 8 sites should upgrade to Drupal 9 as soon as possible before that date.

date:  02/12/2021

As announced in the newsletter issue of 29 June 2021, a step blocking deployment of Drupal 8 sites with possibility of bypass was inserted in the Drupal pipeline mid-October to raise awareness among developers of the need to upgrade their sites to Drupal 9. The extended possibility to bypass the blocker step until 19 January 2022 should allow all Drupal 8 site developers to upgrade their sites to Drupal 9 to be able to continue with site deployments after that date.

Please be aware that no further delays will be allowed. Any deployment of a Drupal 8 site after 19 January 2022 will be automatically blocked and all sites will need to upgrade to Drupal 9 in order to proceed with a new deployment.
