The debate ''Data-Driven Public Administration and Digital Pole'' will focus on the potentials of data-driven decision-making at national and cross-border level and on how the European Commission can further help. Representatives of the Luxembourg authorities and academia as well as participants from various Commission's Directorates-General (CONNECT, DIGIT, Eurostat, Office of Publications, Joint Research Center and DG Translation) will take part in the discussion.

The scope and next steps in the roll-out of the Digital Pole will also be discussed. The Digital Pole, with the transfer of posts, units and directorates from DG DIGIT and DG CONNECT to Luxembourg, was initiated with the purpose to serve as a service centre for the entire EU. It will be an open platform for reflection on EU digital policy shaping and will provide operational digital service infrastructure support to Member States and data analytics expertise.

At the end of the day Vice-President Ansip will visit DIGIT' premises for a live demo and insight into current IT security threats and incidents with view on the future.

As part of his visit to Luxembourg, Vice-President Ansip will also meet Prime-Minister Bettel and Members of the Parliament.

Digital Pole

The Digital Pole was initiated in 2015 as an opportunity for the Commission to develop a ''digital hub'' in Luxembourg and develop cooperation with the Luxembourgish authorities.

The Digital Pole will play a key role in making the Digital Single Market a reality on the ground.

The Digital Pole will promote policies and innovative solutions for digitising health, wellbeing and ageing, public services, education, language and culture. It will be a policy, service and investment facility for European digital infrastructures and technologies (e.g. super-computing, data centres, robotics), the European data economy (e.g. the Open Data Portal and data analytics), public service innovation and modernisation (e.g. eGovernment, interoperability, digital trust).
