This online meeting will take place on 15 March (afternoon) and 16 March (morning)

For the RAN C&N Working Group meeting on ‘Digital Grooming Tactics on Videogaming (Adjacent) Platforms’ we are looking for first-line practitioners such as police officers, mental health professionals, social care, youth or exit workers who have knowledge of the digital grooming tactics used within video-gaming (adjacent) platforms to radicalise and recruit into terrorism and violent extremism. In addition, we welcome grooming experts, communications experts and some academics who are familiar with the topic of grooming online by violent extremists.

Topic of meeting

This meeting will dive deeper into what digital recruitment tactics terrorists and violent extremists use to recruit on videogaming adjacent platforms and in-game chats. It brings together P/CVE practitioners and specialists that examine the processes of digital grooming and invites them to discuss these digital grooming tactics, what the challenges are and what first-line practitioners can do to prevent and counter this.

The meeting builds on the outcomes of the September 2020 C&N exploratory meeting on extremists’ use of gaming and gaming (adjacent) platforms, which explored how extremists use gaming (adjacent) platforms for recruitment and which narratives and strategies they use. In addition, the meeting will build on the outcomes of the 2019 Health & Social Care meeting on the psychological profile of groomers and grooming tactics.

Please keep in mind that we can only invite a limited number of participants to this meeting to ensure valuable exchange and interaction, so participation is not guaranteed.
