From a security research perspective, one of the fundamental changes to the Europol Regulation is to strengthen the role of the agency in the area of research and innovation. With this revised mandate, the agency will no longer participate in projects as a beneficiary, and new procedures will be established to enhance the cooperation of the agency with EU security research projects.
