RAN Webinar on ‘COVID narratives that polarise’

date:  01/12/2020

This webinar will take place on 10 December 2020 from 15.30–16.30 CET

For the RAN Youth & Education webinar on ‘COVID narratives that polarise’ we are currently looking for participants, in particular youth workers, teachers, principals, school counsellors and care teachers who have experienced or are experiencing polarised narratives in the streets, online, in youth centres or perhaps in (virtual) classrooms.

During the COVID-19 crisis, narratives arose blaming people from certain nationalities or religions for this crisis. They divide the youth in society and can feed into the breeding ground of radicalisation. The aim of this webinar is to equip participants with tools and methods to deal with polarising narratives among children and teenagers they work with.

Bjorn Wansink, author of the short handbook ‘COVID-19 stories that polarise’ (to be published soon) will present a method to help teachers and youth workers discuss polarising narratives related to COVID-19 in the class or on the street. The input for this handbook comes from the knowledge of practitioner experts presented during a two-day Y&E meeting with the theme ‘(post)COVID-19 stories that polarise’, and from scientific research.
