Evaluating impact of disengagement, deradicalisation and resocialisation efforts (Madrid, 08 November)

Practitioners of exit programmes, policymakers and researchers involved in evaluation gathered for this Policy & Practice event to exchange knowledge, practices and challenges related to the evaluation of exit programmes.

date:  06/12/2019

The discussion focussed on how cooperation with the donors (of programmes, organisations involved in implementation and (external) evaluators) is not always a given.

Specifically, participants agreed on a common understanding of the outcomes and managing expectations as regards the goal of evaluation from the beginning is beneficial for all stakeholders.

Additionally, two (draft) papers were presented: the RAN Peer and Self Review Manual for Exit work and the Draft Practical Guideline for Policymakers and Practitioners for Planning, Implementing and Following Up on Evaluations in Exit / Intervention Measures.

The guideline is a result of one of the MS project-based approaches led by Germany. The discussions of the meeting will feed into both documents.
