The competition seeks to develop efficient and robust solutions for assigning occupational class labels to job advertisements based on a known taxonomy, the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO).
The competition was open to teams of up to five people from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, with relevant knowledge and experience. Registration for the competition closed on 15 July 2024.
As for the deduplication challenge, the new round of the competition provides an excellent opportunity for its participants to apply their coding skills, creativity and web intelligence expertise to a real-world situation.
Teams compete for prizes (from €5,000 to €25,000 for the first-place winner) in three categories:
· Accuracy award: This prize will be given to the top three teams whose submissions have yielded the highest accuracy score.
· Reusability award: This prize will be given to the team whose submission shows great potential to be scaled up to the European statistics production.
· Innovativity award: This prize will be given to the team whose submission shows the most originality in their approach.
Submissions for the Accuracy award will be open until 30 September 2024 and for the Reusability and Innovativity awards until 15 October 2024. The evaluation panel will assess the submissions and award the prizes. The best solutions will be presented at events organised by Eurostat and taken into consideration in the work on streamlining and enhancing the OJA data processing by the WIH.
