Quarterly market reports confirm influence of global gas prices in EU in third quarter of 2021

The latest quarterly EU energy market reports confirm influence of global gas prices in the EU and highlight that electricity consumption returned to pre-pandemic levels in the 3rd quarter of 2021.

25% of EU electricity production from nuclear sources

According to recent figures from Eurostat, 13 EU countries with nuclear electricity production generated 683 512 GWh of nuclear electricity in 2020.

EU economy greenhouse gas emissions: -24% since 2008

Eurostat reports that in 2020, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by economic activities of EU resident units stood at 3.5 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalents.

EU energy consumption plummeted in 2020

In 2020, primary energy consumption in the EU dropped sharply to 1 236 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe), which is 5.8% better than the efficiency target for 2020, thus clearly outperforming it.
