The EU strategies for energy system integration and hydrogen will pave the way towards a more efficient and interconnected energy sector, driven by the twin goals of a cleaner planet and a stronger economy.

The first 3 months of 2020 were highly volatile for Europe's energy markets, in part due to Covid-19 confinement measures. For both demand and supply, the net impact was a record high share of renewables (40%) in electricity generation and a record low (33%) for the share of fossil fuels.

In preparation for the future EU strategy on offshore renewable energy, the Commission has published a roadmap outlining the different parts of the process, and has opened a 4 week period for public feedback on the roadmap.
