Launching the Just Transition Mechanism - for a green transition based on solidarity and fairness

On 14th January 2020, the Commission presented the European Green Deal’s Just Transition Mechanism and the Sustainable Europe Investment Plan. The Just Transition Mechanism will provide tailored financial and practical support to help regions most affected by the transition, while the Investment Plan will mobilise public investment and help unlock private funds through EU financial instruments.

New electricity rules enters into force

On 1 January 2020, the Electricity Regulation EU/2019/943 agreed under the Clean energy for all European’s package, entered into force. It allows better integration of national markets and increased capacity for cross-border trade, generating lower prices. It will also allow greater access to renewable energies, ensuring a better response to demand and storage.
