Building a career in research often means crossing borders and adapting to new environments. Each move brings exciting opportunities but also a fair share of challenges, from funding and visas to settling into a new workplace or community.

This is where EURAXESS can make a real difference. It is a European initiative that supports both researchers and organisations by providing information, advice, and networking opportunities to make mobility and collaboration easier.

Through a network of more than 650 service centres in 43 countries, EURAXESS offers practical help with relocation, work permits, accommodation, and even family matters. Its goal is to make each career move as smooth as possible so that researchers can focus on their work and development.

The EURAXESS portal brings together thousands of research job offers, funding opportunities, and career resources. Researchers and organisations can create a free profile to publish or apply for positions, manage applications, and connect with talent or opportunities across Europe. Institutions can promote themselves as employers or host organisations and reach an international community of researchers.

At its heart, EURAXESS is also a community. It connects people, fosters exchange, and creates spaces where researchers and institutions can learn from each other. From training sessions to networking events, it supports collaboration and the sharing of experience among peers.

Looking ahead, interoperability with Europass has been developed and has been launched in the context of Conference on Research Careers 2025 on 11 December 2025 to make managing professional profiles even simpler in the future. This new feature helps researchers share their experience and qualifications more easily across European systems. EURAXESS users can now connect to Europass and use information already present in the Europass profile. Such development improves the provision of services by the EU to its citizens and sets the blueprint for further connections with other EU initiatives.
