They have also encouraged free and child-led play across 40 playgrounds, which include a wide range of accessible equipment, to ensure children with disabilities, children with language barriers, and shy children all have access to play. Additionally, the mix of light and shady spaces as well as hidden spaces, helps children play away from the eyes of observers.

For their commitment to making play accessible to all children, South Dublin County wins the Special Mention for Landscape and Playground Areas for the Access City Award 2024.
