EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL AFFAIRS (EXTERNAL COM) - Private security: EU Cash Roundtable

The European Confederation of Security Services (CoESS), UNI Europa and the European Security Transport Association (ESTA) called on the European Commission to enforce universal acceptance of cash in the second EU Cash Roundtable to enforce legal tender status of cash, protecting jobs and citizens’ rights (14/06/2021).

The event was an outcome of the Social Partners’ Work Programme and a response to the “War on Cash”.

The latter has accelerated with a push for “contactless” payments during the COVID-19 crisis, posing an existential challenge to businesses and workers in the cash ecosystem, but also marginalised groups that depend on the acceptance of cash.
