A recent Peer Learning Activity (PLA) report explores effective strategies for unlocking the potential of micro-credentials, which complement or enhance traditional qualifications, particularly within VET, higher education, and lifelong learning framework. Despite their growing relevance, the report notes significant variability in the usage, definition, and recognition of micro-credentials across different countries and sectors.
The PLA found that micro-credentials are becoming a key component of Europe’s dynamic education and training landscape. The report outlines how Member States and employers can advance micro-credential recognition, drawing on insights from the Netherlands, Italy, Slovakia, Greece, and Slovenia, as well Cedefop’s Erasmus+ funded ‘Micro-credentials in Construction: Green Circle’ project.
