Global Innovation Index S&T Cluster Ranking: Chennai, India Sees 7.8% Growth

The Global Innovation Index (GII) ranks the world's leading economies based on their innovation capacities. A key factor shared by top-performing countries is the existence of robust science and technology (S&T) clusters. GII top-100 S&T Cluster ranking looks closer to the ground - using patent filing and scientific publishing data to identify local concentrations of world-leading science and technology activity. Cluster ranking 73 Clusters located in other middle-income economies besides China also experienced strong S&T output growth. Cairo (Egypt) had the highest growth rate for this group at 10.9 percent. Chennai (India) with 7.8 percent and Istanbul (Türkiye) with 7.5 percent also had a high rate of growth for this group.
