WIPO Recordes Highest Number of PCT Filings: India Sees Sharp Increase of 25.4%

The number of international patent applications increased by 0.3% and peaked in 2022. China, the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Germany have been the top five countries for filings under the WIPO's Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), which makes patent protection easier in many different countries. Along with the top five nations, India saw a significant increase in PCT submissions of 25.4%.
