The European Patent Office (EPO) has released its annual Patent Index. The 2022 report provides an overview of the European patent applications filed and European patents granted by the EPO in the previous year. Despite global economic uncertainty, the data shows a rise in patent applications – indicating that businesses continued to invest in research and development and that innovation remained strong.
