European Commission opens applications for European Capital of Innovation Awards (Agence Europe | Europe)

European Commission is opening the competition for the European Capital of Innovation (iCapital) Awards for 2023 to cities with at least 50,000 inhabitants located in a Member State or in a Horizon Europe associate country. The competition, supported by the European Innovation Council under Horizon Europe, rewards innovative cities, particularly in terms of governance and use of technology.

08/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 8 March, the European Commission is opening the competition for the European Capital of Innovation (iCapital) Awards for 2023 to cities with at least 50,000 inhabitants located in a Member State or in a Horizon Europe associate country.

The competition, supported by the European Innovation Council under Horizon Europe, rewards innovative cities, particularly in terms of governance and use of technology.

The competition consists of six prizes in two categories: the ‘European Capital of Innovation’ category, where the winning city will receive €1 million and the two runners-up €100,000 each, and the ‘Rising Innovative City’ category, where the winner will receive €500,000 and the two runners-up €50,000 each.

The competition is open for applications until 29 June 2023.
