In his keynote address at this first edition of the EU Sustainable Investment Summit, UN Secretary-General António Guterres delivered this cautionary message: “Our world is in trouble. Getting the world to net zero requires new clean technologies that still have to be developed and scaled-up. To meet the huge amount of investment this requires, alternative ways of finance must be mobilised. The advantages and downsides of new avenues of capital mobilisation were discussed in this session of the EU Sustainable Investment Summit that gathered representatives of different sectors, which will definitely play an important role to meet this challenge.
Collective and fast action: the road to COP26 (20/10/2021)
The first edition of the EU Sustainable Investment Summit counted with two special guests for the closing session: Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for the Green Deal, Frans Timmermans and U.S Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry. Just arrived from the Pre-COP meeting in Milan, they both agreed that progress is being made, but that there is still real distance to travel that will require collective efforts and faster action.
