We have made a good start with the implementation of the new fiscal framework. We now need to focus on implementation and enhancing the efficiency and quality of public spending and revenues. This is especially important given the immense demands on public finances in a context of clear fiscal sustainability risks in a number of Member Statas. After declining substantially in previous years, the aggregate euro area debt-to-GDP ratio started to edge up in 2025. We therefore need to remain vigilant.

This Quarterly Report analyses the cyclical behaviour of risk-sharing across euro area countries, provides evidence for the usefulness of firms’ selling price expectations in forecasting HICP in the euro area and presents the key economic arguments that underpinned the Council decision on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria.

This report takes stock of the tasks and capacity of independent fiscal institutions in the EU and consists of a Commission communication and a staff working document containing individual IFI fact sheets.

The paper evaluates the impact of the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) grants on profit-oriented firms’ post-treatment performance.

On 18 March 2021, DG ECFIN held an online public event to mark the launch of the InvestEU Programme, adopted by the European Parliament on 09 March 2021. The event, which attracted over 1000 stakeholders from across Europe, featured a keynote address and Q&A session with EU Commissioner for the Economy, Paolo Gentiloni, as well as speakers from DG ECFIN's Directorate L, and InvestEU potential implementing partners.

The EIPP team was invited to the 2020 virtual edition of the European Space Week and joined the panel discussion on “EU Space Programme and Economy that works for people” that took place on 10 December. EIPP is striving to promote more projects targeting the space sector and we expect to enlarge our project portfolio as a result of our collaboration with the European Global Navigation Satellite System Agency.
