Vice-President Dombrovskis and Commissioner Moscovici participated in the G20 Finance Ministerial and Central Bank Governors meeting and the meeting of the IMF International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) on 20-22 April in Washington. The key message from the IMFC meeting was the redoubling of the commitment to achieve strong, sustainable, balanced, inclusive, and job-rich growth. To this end, all policy tools—monetary and fiscal policies, and structural reforms—will be used both individually and collectively. The IMFC also reaffirmed countries’ commitment to avoid inward-looking policies, and to preserve global financial stability. At the G20 meeting discussions focused on the global economy, the main risks to the recovery and the appropriate policy response. The G20 Ministers also discussed the international financial architecture and global financial governance, financial sector development and regulation as well as the progress on the German G20 Presidency initiative 'Compact with Africa' which aims to boost private investment in Africa through better framework conditions and a stronger investment environment.
