Europe Day 2025: A moment to celebrate the power of unity

On 9 May, Europeans came together to celebrate 75 years of unity and solidarity on Europe Day. To mark the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, EU institutions opened their doors to citizens. In the Commission’s iconic Berlaymont building, visitors got to take a closer look at the work of the Climate Pact community.

The Pact community also marked the occasion on social media, sharing reflections on what Europe means to them. Ambassador Lilla Albert spoke of Europe Day as a symbol of ‘solidarity, peace, and the courage to shape a better future together’, while Ulrika Wilhelmsson reminded us that ‘if we want peace, freedom, democracy and a living planet, then it is not enough to be a silent majority’.

Ramon Vila highlighted the EU’s role in building community during times of uncertainty, and pledged to keep promoting shared values and opportunities for a brighter future.
